women we're seen as weaker and expected to do domestic duties.

3) How does the heading message ('OMO makes whites bright') and the style of the text promote the product?

this will mainly make women catch attention to the product , making them wanna buy it as you wont ned to wash it over and over again for it to be a brighter white.

4) Analyse the mise-en-scene in the advert (CLAMPS): how is costume, make-up and placement of the model used to suggest women's role in society?

the costume is very colourful and women's sleeve is rolled up so it suggest that she us doing the hard work. also the hair and makeup is perfect which shows that women in the 50s has to be doing the domestic duties and also be looking decent.

5) Why is a picture of the product added to the bottom right of the advert?

 this is to show the product image to show the customer what they are buying

6) What are the connotations of the chosen colours in this advert - red, white and blue?

the colours are very bright and you can not really see any marks on the clothes . the connotations are joy , bright and happiness..

7) How does the anchorage text use persuasive language to encourage the audience to buy the product? 

the repetition of the word ' white and bright' makes the audience think there clothes will be as white and bright as they are in the advert.

the stereotype is that women should be happy as housewives. also mothers to protect male power at home and work

9) What is the preferred reading for this advert - what did the producers of the advert want the audience to think in 1955?

that women were the people who did the washing and house duties

10) What is the oppositional reading for this advert - how might a modern audience respond to this text and the representation of women here?

they would respond saying the advert is sexist as the advert shows the women doing the washing.
